Traditional Life: Life and Ritual

Distinct from the world of the gods, the world of mankind includes all tangible natural things and loose spirits. Whereas the free spirits, which can indeed dwell in natural things, are potentially dangerous, the animal, vegetable, or mineral things have bounded souls which are healthy.

The human being consists of a body and a soul, the latter made of an unstable amount of mana similar to that of the natural things. This vital substance can be added to by the gods, or substracted from by evil spirits. In a perpetual cycle, at death it returns to the divine realm of its origin, while a new spirit - the spirit of the dead - comes into existence and hangs around on earth. This new spirit potentionally harmful until the proper rituals accompany it to its final resting place, the village of the dead.
